Harold Hunter~150~In the mid-90s there were rumors abound about the release of Kids; a groundbreaking film documenting teens growing up in New York City.Salacuse learning that Harold Hunter was in the film sought him out for
his portfolio.After the shoot the story goes that Hunter asked Salacuse for a copy of the photograph. After painstakingly hand-developing one and presenting it to Hunter he sincerely replied "Thank you. M.I.A.~45~When we look back on 2000s pop culture it'll probably be remembered as the decade we explored and reinterpreted the 80s.  M.I.A. represents this more than any other figure with her beats, fashion, art, and politically infused lyrics. This photo was captured in 2004 and published by Pound Magazine (a Toronto-based hip-hop magazine) just prior to her first official album release Arular.  We love this photograph as it seems like personal outtake from a photo shoot, but we suspect the photographer and publisher were aiming for a unique, expressive and atypical music portrait of M.I.A.
